We are looking into Gym Equipment today and all the different uses plus benefits you can get from the equipment you use.



Treadmills offer one of the best cardiovascular workouts because they work your whole body. They offer a freedom of movement that engages muscles throughout your body, toning muscle as you burn calories.

Thighs- Your hamstrings (back of thighs) and quadriceps (front of thighs) do most of the work in running and walking. Raising the incline on the treadmill increases the load on your hamstrings and glutes (backside).

Hips and Buttocks

Your gluteal muscles work in concert with your hamstrings to provide propulsion when you are running. The muscles in your hips lift your knee off the belt with each step.


The muscles in the backs of your calves (gastrocnemius and soleus) engage with each step. Running and walking also work the muscles in the front of the shins (tibialis anterior).


Between the rib cage and the hips, there is little bone to hold you upright. Instead, the “core” muscles hold you erect while running or walking. The core muscles also act as a conduit for transferring power between the upper and lower body, allowing pumping arms to power you up an incline.

Upper Body

Your biceps and chest (pectorals) pump your arms as you walk or run.

Elliptical Cross Trainers


Elliptical cross trainers — more simply known as elliptical trainers — aren’t perfect; some of them have limited stride lengths, which means they only fit a limited cross-section of the population. Most gym elliptical trainers, however, will suit a wide range of body types, and they offer a range of benefits that’s just as wide. Elliptical trainers offer a low-impact, full-body workout that burns calories to the tune of 800 per hour, depending on your body weight.

A Low-Impact Workout

Because your feet never leave an elliptical trainer’s pedals, you don’t have to worry about the repeated pounding your joints take when you run on a treadmill. Even walking offers a certain degree of impact — albeit much less — that you can avoid by using an elliptical trainer. Yet elliptical trainers still offer all the benefits of a weight-bearing workout, which helps build bone density in your legs, hips and spine.

Work Those Arms

Some elliptical trainers have moving handlebars. Push and pull on those handlebars as you pedal for a true full-body workout. The back-and-forth motion targets your chest, back, shoulders and arms, while the pedals work every major muscle in your lower body.

Stationary Bike

One of the most popular pieces of home exercise equipment is the stationary bike. The bikes come in a variety of sizes, styles and price ranges, making them suitable for many different people. People who have a room dedicated to working out may choose a larger model that can’t be moved. Apartment dwellers may have limited space, so they can select one that is smaller and can be pushed into a corner when not in use.

Easy and Convenient

Most people learned to ride bicycles when they were very young, so the motion of pedaling is easy and doesn’t require instruction. Having a stationary bike in the home is convenient because it can be used regardless of the weather, and you won’t have to travel to a gym for a workout.

Cardio for All Fitness Levels

People of all fitness levels can benefit from a strong cardio workout when riding stationary bikes. Beginners often start out using a stationary bike because they can ride it at a comfortable speed without having to worry about straining their muscles. As your skill level increases, you can add tension for the feeling of riding uphill or speed. Someone at an advanced fitness level may ride with both high tension and speed for an optimum workout.

Not Boring

Some people enjoy the feeling of working out and are able to focus on their personal fitness. However, if you’re not one of those, you can watch television or listen to music while riding a stationary bike in your home. It’s a good way to catch up on your favorite recorded shows and an excellent alternative to sitting in a chair eating cookies.

Low Risk

Riding a stationary bike carries a very low risk of injury if used properly. It doesn’t require pounding the joints like some aerobic exercises do, and it’s easy on the knees, feet and ankles. Strength Building

Stationary bikes are excellent for building leg strength, since those are the muscles that are worked while riding. All you have to do is increase the tension setting to challenge your muscles.
