How I Improve My Acne & Eczema Skin Thanks To Lush Cosmetics

Let’s take it back to when I was around 12-14 years old starting out with all those new feelings of puberty, girls girls girls you know what I mean yep periods and them dam spots.

Thinking it was just a phase and would soon go but it never did after so many trips to the Doctors as my spots seem to be getting worse and forming into Acne, so I ended up getting referred to a Dermatologist which lead to me been put on Roaccutane.

(Roaccutane) capsules contain the active ingredient isotretinoin. Isotretinoin belongs to a group of medicines known as retinoids, which are derivatives of vitamin A. Isotretinoin taken by mouth works by reducing the production of the skin’s natural oil (sebum).

Acne occurs due to an excessive production of sebum from over-active sebaceous glands in the skin. The sebum blocks the sebaceous glands, which prevents the oil from flowing freely out and causes an accumulation of sebum under the skin. The bacteria associated with acne thrive in these conditions. They feed on the sebum, and produce waste products and fatty acids that irritate the sebaceous glands, making them inflamed and causing spots.

I soon saw the amazing results of my Acne doing but unfortunately that was very sort lived and ended up been put on this another two times, every time I finished the coarse my acne came back and its not a tablet you can be on forever so I soon became so down again.
Years and years went by trying all other medication and creams ect when I reached the age of 30 and still suffering from adult Acne I kind of said to myself well lets embrace it as had so many other problems going off in my life.
At the age of 32 so around two years ago as I am 34 now I became a Lush nutter lol, by this I mean it started off by going in to one of the Lush stores that was local to me for some Fathers Day items for my Dad.
The one little thing that god me was Melting Marshmallow Moment Bath Melt was so kind and soft in the bath and did not get any reaction to this as I have sensitive eczema skin too.
I came across Lushes face cleansers and thought I would give a few of them ago,the ones I picked for my skin type are….Dark Angels
Angels On Bare Skin

This is for those of you who really like to scrub your skin to feel clean, with black sugar and charcoal to exfoliate, and rhassoul mud to deeply cleanse. We also use cold pressed avocado oil and vegetable glycerine to moisturise and soften your skin after all that scrubbing, leaving your skin feeling balanced and fresh. Sandalwood and rosewood oils give a rich, earthy fragrance and have a cooling and antiseptic effect on the skin. We buy our powdered charcoal locally in Dorset. It’s a great way to exfoliate and is deeply cleansing, whilst black sugar is in here to scrub away any dead skin cells, leaving you with bright, refreshed skin.
Nettles, rosemary and rice bran vinegar work to cleanse the skin, removing dirt and grease, leaving bright and beautifully clean skin. Chamomile blue oil and rose absolute are used for balancing skin tone. Rice bran and ground almonds will gently exfoliate the skin and when mixed with water, the almonds create a soft cleansing milk. Our chlorophyllin is extracted from alfalfa, which is rich in vitamins and minerals and is great for revitalising the skin.

This incredibly gentle cleanser is made from 100% natural ingredients. Inspired by a mediaeval recipe and topped off with lavender flowers, this contains kaolin to absorb grease and dirt, leaving skin clean and nourished. Lavender oil and rose absolute calm the skin. As you mix your solid cleanser with water to form a paste, the ground almonds create almond milk which helps to tone and brighten the skin. This can be used all over your body as well as your face.

I also use ….

Grease Lightning –

is a powerful combination of ingredients that will nip any breakouts in the bud without upsetting the skin around them. We use an infusion of antibacterial and antiseptic rosemary, thyme and tea tree, as well as antioxidant-rich grape juice and witch hazel, which is astringent and anti-inflammatory and is said to soothe redness. This product is ideally applied when you feel a spot is about to erupt – prevention is better than cure.

Tea Tree Toner Water-

Keep skin clear and refreshed. Tea tree is antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial, so can help keep away the bacteria that can cause spots. Grapefruit is rich in vitamins and is also lightly astringent on the skin, whilst juniperberry is antiseptic and helps keep skin clean and clear. Use any time of day to keep skin refreshed, or to remove traces of makeup or cleanser.

Enzymion Moisturiser-

A gentle face cream to replenish moisture without oiliness, leaving a matte finish. We use a whole fresh lemon in every pot to stop your skin looking shiny, popped in fresh papaya, and blended in light oils and cocoa butter. Fresh fruit contains enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids to remove dead skin cells and help to stimulate and brighten.
All these Lush products all together over some good few months have had my skin so much better to be honest they have been a life saver for me just shows when you find the right set of items it can take time but when you do it’s so worth it.
