Precious Little Worlds got the chance to attend this year’s cake & bake show at Manchester, as a keen home baker myself I thought it would be a great opportunity to tell you what the show exactly was like, going as a first time press visitor.
The show was held at Manchester Central as we are only round a hours drive away from the show the drive up was no hassle at all until you get right to seeing the event and me & my partner did panic a bit as we just could not seem to find event parking. Yep oh boy we went round a few times so ended up parking meters away down a side street as this was the only place we could find.
With our two kids in tow we soon made our way into the vip press office to collate our family pass.
Even before we headed to the gate I eyed up some people from the show offering a goodie bag for just £5

As soon as we walk in you could see the huge hall full of tempting food/baking on offer.
The market hall is overwhelming with brands such as –
And that’s only just a few of them was hundreds of brands.
What a fantastic Easter bunny cake at the Renshaw stand
Some of you may be thinking well “who are they” ! you sure will have come across them in plenty of stores even supermarkets.

I have to say I have never seen a few of the items and got a tad giddy when I saw some fab tubes of Colour Melts-
Simply shake the pot ,remove the lid then place loosely. Heat on full power in an 800W microwave for 30 seconds and stir for 30 seconds. Re-cover & heat for a further 20 seconds and stir for 30 seconds.
Good for dipping biscuit’s even poping over your cake pops.
We soon saw some outstanding cakes on one of the show tables
As a vegetarian I am cheese crazy one of my favourite foods there was a few markets stalls full of scrummy cheese and oh yes it would be rude not to try some 🙂
Ended up getting x2 Vintage Gold Extra Mature Cheddar- one for us and the other for my dad to try, also got Caramelised Onion & Rioja Cheddar which is absolutely to die for lots of good deals.

Ended up going round a few times looking for the Billintons stand as they had a very good offer £5 for Cake time plus x2 large of sugar & x1 mini one.
But a huge disappointment as the stall was only taking cash and already spent my change, even spoke to them about it was gutted as we had spend so much time looking around for the stand 🙁
Was so many fun filled live competitions , demos going on around the hall. And if you are thinking its just full of baking items well you will be wrong as they had so many different products especially like me if you took your fella along with you, such as big pasties, pork pies to fill up your mans energy levels from carrying all the shopping we had being doing.
Then out of the corner of my eye I saw a stall called Sponge –
What struck me the most about Sponge was there little cakes in such cute little boxes, you can choose from so many different fillings from the good old fashion traditional ones-
The nation’s favourite. Light fluffy vanilla sponge, sandwiched together with the finest British strawberry jam and naturally flavoured vanilla butter cream.
To the quirky ones-
A beautifully light cinnamon sponge with sultanas and real apple pieces, vanilla butter cream, and crumble pieces scattered on top.
I could not possibly list all the store as was so many, so now I will move on to the facilitates at the event.
On entering there is disabled access a huge wide ramp so no problems.
Toilets in and around /baby changing.
Cash machine but its hit & miss as most of the time its out of use.
Lots of room for wheelchairs and they have some self-propelled wheelchairs available for use within the venue.
(National Car Park) directly below Manchester Central that is open 24 hours a day all year round. It has 720 spaces including 18 disabled parking bays and there is direct access to Manchester Central by lift, stairs and escalators. Pricing is as follows: 2 hours or less £6.10; between 2 and 4 hours £9.50; between 4 and 6 hours £10.50; between 6 and 12 hours £14.50; between 12 and 24 hours £18.40.
Did not find this.
Lots of food places to sit down and eat but watch out as can be pricey, as I had with me my two kids plus my partner it came to a fair price for us all but have to say was very nice food.
To round up the show
We all had a fantastic time and I especially enjoyed reporting back for my blog , sorry I could not fit everything in as was so much.
It sure has opened my eyes to new ways of baking & techniques.
